Bernie Sanders is amazing. I knew guys like him back in the 60s. A young Jewish Communist cat from Brooklyn, full of revolutionary vigor, with a full head of hair, a chick magnet for sure.
What’s amazing is Bernie has managed to parlay that schtick into a real political career without ever having a real job. Mayor of Burlington, U.S. Representative, and now Senator. All without drastically modifying his rap, or even joining the Democratic Party.
Bernie evokes a nostalgic, sentimental response in boomers like me, and, strangely enough, he seems to have the same effect on young people.
Ah, back when I believed in Communism. Sigh. Those were the days.
