The Grace of Roger Federer

Watching Roger Federer play tennis will make you a better person. There is a Buddhist serenity in the economy of his movement that is mildly contagious. For days after watching one of his matches, a little bit of the way he moves, and the way he thinks, becomes a part of me and makes the movement of my life a little more graceful. Of course all great athletes, and dancers, impart this kind of grace, each in their own way. They are great teachers, not only of graceful movement, but courage, endurance, strength, and intelligence, not necessarily in their private lives, but in their performance. These days Roger Federer is my favorite. I know nothing about his private life, what kind of guy he is, but his performance is enlightenment in action.
