If You Don’t Get Even, You’re a Schmuck

Monday, October 24th, 2016

Although I make a modest living in my one man software business, I am not what you would call a success in business, and certainly not in politics or war. And the reason, I believe, is that I did not understand how the real world works. Too sheltered. Too acid-enamored with the vision of the oneness of all things. Too far above, too superior to anyone who would say, as Donald Trump has said, “if you don’t get even, you’re a schmuck.”

If I have a regret, it is that I kept myself from using my abilities to gain a real foothold in the world. Thinking of oneself as a spiritual seeker who is above all that, typically involves a lot of self-delusion, as it certainly has in my case.

Calling it a rigged system, as have such diverse voices as Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Donald Trump, is putting it mildly. It is corrupt at every level. Wherever there is money and/or power, there is systemic, ubiquitous corruption.

The elites of Wall Street, Washington DC, the mainstream TV and newspaper media, the social media, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, are all populated by people who will sell out their grandmothers, sell their souls to the Devil, to gain money and power.

The media are dishonest, not just the political media, all of it, the tech media, the entertainment media, even the sports, although they are probably the least corrupt. The system is rigged. The system is corrupt. The regular people, the people with jobs and small businesses, who go to church maybe, who care about their children and grandchildren, who watch their favorite news channel, or don’t watch news at all, are all living within a system completely controlled by dishonest, corrupt people.

And now we know it. Donald Trump has ripped the covers off of the political parties, the media (including Fox), Washington DC, and Wall Street. He’s not a perfect human being, God knows, but he is clearly a man of great courage. Under constant, withering, often false attack from all quarters, he has not backed down. He has sacrificed his reputation and his wealth in order to serve the country he loves. Get woke.

Earthly Powers

Got some free HBO from our beneficent cable provider. So I watched an episode of WestWorld on HBO. It’s the old sentient robot story. I liked it. It made many interesting observations about consciousness and sin, and it had fabulous writing, acting, and production values, but I just don’t buy the premise.

I know of many many smart people, people much smarter than me, people like Elon Musk and Marvin Minsky, who believe in this shit. But I just don’t buy it. Consciousness is not a super large pile of zeros and ones. Consciousness is the presence of God in his creation. And nothing becomes conscious without God’s sayso.

We are not living in a computer simulation. These smart people are full of it, as are so many smart people these days.

All of the earthly powers, including the “smart” people, are aligned against Donald Trump. The name for all of the earthly powers is Satan. If it occurs, the election of Donald Trump will be a miracle. I know. I know. Donald Trump is a poor vessel, in many ways, for being the instrument of divine intervention. But he has received the Call, and he has the guts and the love to answer it.

Mimetic Desire

Richard, my Facebook friend, thought I might be interested in Rene Girard, because he writes about human sacrifice and scapegoating, things that often occur in communities and social media, and have been happening to me lately because of my support for Trump. On Facebook, I am routinely called a racist, misogynistic, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic creep, none of which I am. It is the preparation for the human sacrifice or scapegoating.

So I’m reading I See Satan Fall Like Lightning. Girard says that violence among human beings is caused by what he calls “mimetic desire”, i.e., desire caused by the human way of imitating those around us.

Girard boils down the tenth commandment to Thou Shalt not Desire Anything that Anybody else has. Whoa! Pretty tough commandment. It makes Thou Shalt not Kill look like Don’t Chew Gum in Class. It pretty much includes all of the other nine.

He says mimetic desire is not instinctual and can be undone. I haven’t got to that part yet.
